Some of you lovely gents might remember that Fiat 850 I was all excited about a while ago. Well rust in the front suspension and costs of importing shut that dream down. But lo there is another Fiat to be had!
My mechanic has the scoop on a 1980 Fiat 124 Spider that has been sitting hardly driven after its owner moved to Italy. It's been converted to twin weber carbs, has no rust and fresh dark blue paint. It really is a gorgeous car minus the ugly bumpers which Tony says he'll retrofit the old ones for free.
Price for all this? $5,000. It's not every day you get a chance to have access to an awesome Italian mechanic so I think I might take it on.
Does anyone have any experience with these cars?

This is the car my Dad had when I was born. He loved it.
He sold it and got an Alfa spider for variety.
He did the maintenance himself. The Weber carbs are a bit tricky to get dialed in right but once they are they are amazing.
I vote you buy it.

slap some exposed filters on those weber's and you will have the most bitchin' induction noise ever heard
on a more serious note if there is no rust on the exterior and the paint is good and the top and interior is good then buy it
like right now
as in stop reading this and go to bank to get money
and then buy it

Top is semi-ratty and leaks but the car is otherwise clean as clean gets. The banks are closed but I'm looking to move on it soon haha and totally agree about the induction noise!

Tony knows what he's talking about. He'll fix it.
In other words, you need it and should make it yours as quickly as possible.
